A Timeless Reimagining
The journey of Disney’s Black Beauty is the reason The Wild Beauty Foundation came to be. Inspired by the timeless messages of Anna Sewell’s profound classic, and imbued with the original characters, locations, and themes from the beloved novel— in the modern day retelling of Black Beauty, she is born into the world a wild horse, taken away from her family and all she has ever known. Her story will eventually intertwine with that of a teenage girl, Jo Green.
We hope Black Beauty helps gracefully illuminate the issues wild horses are currently facing in the West, while mirroring why Anna Sewell wrote the novel in the first place, which was to give a voice to the horses of her time in the late 1800s. Enjoy the film now on Disney+, and know it was directly crafted by our passionate WBF founders and ambassadors!
