Ashley Avis
Founder / President
Ashley Avis is an award-winning filmmaker, journalist, and passionate advocate for the wild world. She is known for writing and directing Black Beauty for Disney, starring Oscar winner Kate Winslet and Mackenzie Foy, and the Critics Choice–nominated documentary Wild Beauty: Mustang Spirit of the West.
In 2020, Ashley founded The Wild Beauty Foundation to bring a bold new voice to wildlife protection through storytelling, education, and legislative advocacy. Her work has been featured in TIME, Deadline, and other major outlets, and in 2023, she received a Special Congressional Commendation.
In addition to filmmaking, Ashley is a journalist with bylines in Rolling Stone, where she writes on the urgent need to protect wild horses and public lands. Her passions include developing new programs for WBF, documenting environmental injustices, and introducing children to the beauty of the natural world.
She is currently writing and directing City of Angels for Warner Bros. and Oscar-winning producer Charles Roven, and American Wolf for Appian Way and Apple, with Leonardo DiCaprio producing.
Edward Winters
FoundeR
Edward Winters is a film producer and co-founder of Winterstone Pictures in Los Angeles. He served as Executive Producer of Black Beauty for Disney+ and lead producer of the Critics Choice–nominated documentary Wild Beauty: Mustang Spirit of the West.
A former finance professional, Edward now uses his platform in entertainment to shine a light on underrepresented issues. He is the co-founder and executive director of The Wild Beauty Foundation, where he helps lead national efforts to protect wildlife through storytelling, advocacy, and legislative action.
